Bankruptcy Filings Increase: U.S. bankruptcy filings surged in August, marking the highest total for the first eight months of the year since 2020 and the second-highest since 2010, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Comparison with Previous Years: There were 452 bankruptcy filings from January to August 2023, slightly lower than 466 in the same period of 2020 and significantly lower than 604 in 2010.
